Remembrance Day

“Remembrance Day Memories”

Today, I want to share and explain what was my feeling and my thought about this memorable day and how was my path. First of all, the appointment was at City Hall. The celebration started with a beautiful Canadian veteran´s procession and I could appreciate in their faces the pride, the courage and love for our country.  At the same time, I had a lot of questions in my head, such as what is the history and meaning of this? Maybe, they lost their best friends or maybe they saw much a lot of pain.  After that, I sang our Canadian hymn. Today, I can feel and understand the meaning and power of each word. Finally, I went to the concert at St James Catholic Church and all the songs were very sad. I think it is very important to recognize not only in Remembrance Day our Canadian veterans, we should also recognize every day and show them our gratitude to fight for everything, who gave us the most valuable felling “our freedom” which we enjoy today and forever.
If you do not know how to remember and honour our Veterans. I will give you some ideas.
  • Wear a poppy.
  • Attend your local Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th. Really, it is a beautiful experience.
  • Thank a Veteran by sending a postcard.
  • Talk with them and learn about their experiences.
  • Plant your own Garden of Remembrance.
  • Not forget to see “Passchendaele” the movie. It will give you a different view about this celebration and remember “We shall not forget them”.
