Monday's Assignment No. 2

  1. What do you know of Canada’s Big Five? Take dictation of this report, 00:05 - 00:46. Check your transcript with 2 partners before publishing it on your blog.

Good morning Mike Eppel,

Hey good morning Kevin we've got the big Canadian banks gearing up for what they expect to be a busy spring time real estate market and some ultra-low mortgage rates once again. The Bank of Montreal offering a special 5 year rate at 2.99% follows the TD bank so for year a rate at 2.97%.  We’re back to these rates below that 3% threshold. Last time we saw this was about a year ago you recall, when the Banks where publicly rebuked by then Finance Minister Jim Floury for lowering mortgage rates too much. They were concerned about creating a bubble in the housing market. Nobody sees that right now, they figure it’s going to be busy this spring time for real estate. They’re competing to get some more mortgage business, so again with very low borrowing costs.

Afternoon Friday Assignment No. 1

I saw the video called ING DIRECT Frees Canadians from Bank Fees. This video only showed the benefits of banking with ING vs. conventional bank. However, it does not provide information for more than one type of account.

In my opinion, it is not possible to show the disadvantages because the video only shows the benefits of this ING product such as: 24/7 live support by phone, free withdrawals, free bill payments, free debit transaction.

clothing alteration Thursday's Assignment No. 3

Spencer: I would love to see you in this outfit: a tank top and a miniskirt.

Lauren: No way! I wouldn’t look anything like that mannequin. I’m too shy and I’d make a fool of myself wearing such revealing clothes.

Spencer: That’s where you’re wrong. You would look great on the beach in that outfit with a bikini underneath.

Lauren: I haven’t worn a bikini in years. I always wear a one-piece now. In fact, I’d feel more comfortable in a T-shirt, cut-offs, and flip- flops.

Spencer: Why would you want to hide that figure? If you want to do that, why don’t you just wear this Hawaiian shirt and these board-shorts. Then no one will know you’re a woman!

Lauren: Don’t get mad. Okay, you can pick out an outfit for me and I promise to wear it for you. Okay?

Spencer: Fine, but I’m warning you: I want to see some skin!

At home:

Spencer: Did you see my favourite black pants?
Lauren: Yes, I did. Do you remember that you feel your pants very high? So, I decided to go to the alteration store to fix it. Also, I saw the zipper broken.

Spencer: Do you know if my T-shirt is in the washing machine?

Lauren: Yes, it is. It had the stained collar and a missing button, but I fix it.

Spencer: Perfect, Thank you very much, now I think I need more clothes.

Remembrance Day

“Remembrance Day Memories”

Today, I want to share and explain what was my feeling and my thought about this memorable day and how was my path. First of all, the appointment was at City Hall. The celebration started with a beautiful Canadian veteran´s procession and I could appreciate in their faces the pride, the courage and love for our country.  At the same time, I had a lot of questions in my head, such as what is the history and meaning of this? Maybe, they lost their best friends or maybe they saw much a lot of pain.  After that, I sang our Canadian hymn. Today, I can feel and understand the meaning and power of each word. Finally, I went to the concert at St James Catholic Church and all the songs were very sad. I think it is very important to recognize not only in Remembrance Day our Canadian veterans, we should also recognize every day and show them our gratitude to fight for everything, who gave us the most valuable felling “our freedom” which we enjoy today and forever.
If you do not know how to remember and honour our Veterans. I will give you some ideas.
  • Wear a poppy.
  • Attend your local Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th. Really, it is a beautiful experience.
  • Thank a Veteran by sending a postcard.
  • Talk with them and learn about their experiences.
  • Plant your own Garden of Remembrance.
  • Not forget to see “Passchendaele” the movie. It will give you a different view about this celebration and remember “We shall not forget them”.
